Jesse S. Wenger

Jesse S. Wenger established Wenger Legal Strategies LLC following more than seven years as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice. Before founding WLS, Mr. Wenger served as the First Assistant U.S. Attorney at the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware. He also held the position of Chief of Appeals from April 2022 through May 2024. Prior to his tenure as Chief of Appeals, Mr. Wenger served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, managing complex criminal and civil matters for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.As a federal prosecutor, Mr. Wenger focused his criminal practice on white-collar crime. He successfully prosecuted matters involving money laundering, wire fraud, health care fraud, bank fraud, cybercrime, and federal tax offenses. Mr. Wenger led several white-collar investigations in coordination with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. He also directed affirmative civil litigation on behalf of the United States, specifically focusing on health care and government contracting fraud under the False Claims Act.

 

Mr. Wenger is a highly experienced appellate advocate, trial attorney, and investigator. He has served as the primary author or supervisory attorney on dozens of federal appellate briefs and has argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Furthermore, Mr. Wenger has lead multiple jury trials to verdict, including a case involving international money laundering schemes.

 

Prior to joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Mr. Wenger served as a law clerk for the Hon. Kent A. Jordan on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and for the Hon. Gene E.K. Pratter on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He also practiced as a litigation associate at a distinguished New York City law firm. In addition to his practice at WLS, Mr. Wenger provides Of Counsel services to Freeh Sporkin & Sullivan LLP and The Deborah Project.

 

Mr. Wenger graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in History in 2011. He earned his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2014, where he was also inducted into the Order of the Coif.

 

Mr. Wenger is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and New York.
